trains and castles
we’ve probably spent 1/4 of our time on trains, and a 1/4 of our time in a castle or cathedral. they really know how to build things here. the modern architecture in some of the cities is as astounding as the classic structures. i’ll post many photos when i return.
i’ve tried many ales and bitters. i’m making a list, and i’ll try to share that once i return. we’ve had bangers and mash in Edinburgh, fish and chips in Canterbury, traditional English breakfast several times (the beans are basically like our pork and beans without the pork), and prawns (shrimp) are very big here. i had a prawn sandwich in Warrick.
we’ve seen some spectacular cathedrals. it’s amazing to think of when some of them were built. one of the cathedrals in Liverpool was designed by a 22 year old. Leslie and i questioned what we were doing with our lives if this guy was designing cathedrals at 22.
the castles. wow.
that’s about all for now. we just met up with Leslie’s sister in Grantham, and we’ll meet up with Marion on friday.
england/france/scotland
they play no country music here. at all. it’s lovely. the food was amazing in Paris. simply amazing. we’re in Edinburgh, Scotland today. we’re tired, but we’re having an amazing time. everything is SO expensive here.
that’s about all the time i have for now. hope everyone is doing well, and if we find free internet somewhere, i’ll post more.
cheers.
