March Media Quick Review
March had some good things for me in the vein of music, movies and other stuff. here’s a quick overview:
music
- the bird and the bee – i love this. love. the girl’s voice is heavenly and the music is very fresh, quirky, and original. i hear so many bands these days that sound like everyone else, so this was a very enjoyable find.
- sleeptalker (simplifysimplify)- great mini album. and it’s only $5. i personally believe this is a must have.
- stars of track and field (centuries before love and war)- great band name, but the music is fairly unmemorable. yet, it’s nice to listen to. i couldn’t hum a song if i tried, and i’ve listened to it about 8 times now. but i don’t dislike it. it was $7.99 at target, so why not?
- lovedrug (everything starts where it ends) – this album started very very strong. i love the first 2 tracks. then it lost a little something in the middle and picked back up toward the end. the songs that carried over from the previous ep were all great. worth getting, especially if you like lovedrug.
movies
- 300 - great visuals. it’s beautifully violent. A, maybe even A+
- Stranger than Fiction – immediately entered into my top 10 of all time. heart-warming, funny, clever, magical. A+
- Mysterious Skin – possibly the worst film ever, unless you like man rape and pedophilia. please God give me those 2 hours back. F
- Casino Royale - action packed Bond film that did the opposite of disappoint. A-
Chocolate Jesus: Sacreligious or Absolutely Delicious?
If you watch the video of this, there’s a good chance that you’ll be angry. i was.
The president of the Catholic League is really a mean and hateful person. He says so many outrageous things. i don’t guess i can blame him for wanting to defend his “faith”, but his actions are so unChristian (i’m pretty sure that’s not a word), that i can’t believe that he keeps his job. i guess he’s what many people want Christians to be, which is sadder than sad.
i wouldn’t say that i love what the artist did, but the over reaction by this guy to the art was madness. And then the artist said that he was a Christian and the “president” of the League told him that he wasn’t. What?
